Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 did a great opening day last Friday by earning a solid earning of $61.2 million making the film to be the fifth highest grossing opener of all time. The first installment of the HP7 surpassed its previous film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which only pulled in $58.2 million back in the summer of 2009. However, it didn't made enought to catch up with the last two installments of The Twilight Saga, with New Moon earning $68.5 million in 2009, and Eclipse breaking the record for the best opening weekend ever with $72.7 million. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 also fell short of The Dark Knight's 2008 opening day grosses of $67.2 million, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen's 2009 opening day grosses of $62 million.
