About Headline Season 2, Episode 0 :
Valerie Harper tried her best, but I guess her best wasn’t good enough when she was eliminated fromn the hit reality TV dancing series, Dancing with the Stars, in its latest episode. Valerie Harper is an American actress known for her roles as Rhoda Morgenstern in the 1970s television series The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off, Rhoda, and later as Valerie Hogan in Valerie. She joined Dancing with the Stars for this season and she was but glad that she wasn’t the first to be eliminated. "My knees are killing me," moans Valerie Harper, lifting her gold lamé gown and showing off two knees wrapped in heavy bandages. It's moments after her elimination on Monday night's Dancing With The Stars and Harper is cheerfully working the press line, flashing the smile that belies the crushing diagnosis she was given in January, her lung cancer. Despite battling her disease, Valerie is still very happy that she was able to become part of the show. "I feel very happy that I was here for four dances with Tristan [MacManus]," she says. She just recently read an article about dealing with cancer that supported her time on the show. "It said dance, movement, is very beneficial," says Harper. "People used to say, 'Go home, rest, put your feet up.' And there are people who are suffering horribly with this disease, with pain in many parts of the body. But I have been extremely lucky. I got through Dancing With The Stars, didn't die on the floor, or fall." Then she smiles. "Tristan wouldn't let me fall. He would throw himself under me and pretend it was a lift." The judges, most especially Judge Carrie Ann Inaba, are filled with admiration for what Harper accomplished in the show. Despite that she is sick, Harper still proved to us that you have no right to take away your happiness and enjoyment, even when you are suffering from hurt.
