The Daytime Emmy Awards are awards being presented by the New York-based National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Los Angeles-based of Television Arts & Sciences and these awards recognizes the excellence in American daytime television programming. During this year’s Daytime Emmys 2013, it was the CBS television network which scored an amazing 50 nominations and it was said that the daytime drama TV Series “The Young and the Restless” which celebrated its fourth season on the air this year was the one which gathered 23 nominations, almost half of the total number of nominations for CBS. The daytime drama series earned a total number of 23 nominations, including nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Michelle Stafford, and three of four Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series nominations for Peter Bergman, Doug Davidson, and Michael Muhney. after CBS, it was PBS which followed with 44 nominations, and ABC then followed with a total of 38 nods. In the meantime, Nickelodeon followed with 36 nominations while NBC television network comes next with 25 nods. General Hospital, the hit medical drama series of ABC, came next to “Y&R” when it earned 19 nominations after it celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. Sesame Street and NBC’s Days of Our Lives both earned 17 nominations. Emmys are considered the television equivalent to the Academy Awards (for film), Grammy Awards (for music) and Tony Awards (for stage).
